Dynacom Tankers signs contract for 2 Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs)

news-details

Recently, China Shipbuilding Corporation's Dalian Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. and Greece's George Procopiou's Dynacom Tankers Management Company held an online signing ceremony for the construction contract of two 307,000-ton VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier).

This type of ship is independently developed and designed by Dalian Shipbuilding. Dalian Shipbuilding has delivered two 307,000-ton VLCCs to Dynacom in 2022. The VLCC signed this time is a continuous upgrade of the previous ship type. The ship has a total length of about 333 meters, a molded width of 60 meters, a molded depth of 30 meters, and a load capacity of about 307,000 tons. Its NOx (nitrogen oxides) and SOx (sulfur oxides) meet the emission limit requirements of global and special control areas.

After the project takes effect, it is planned to be built at the Tianjin base of Dalian Shipbuilding. According to the strategic layout of Dalian Shipbuilding "one headquarters and three bases", the Tianjin base is positioned as a medium and large civilian shipbuilding base. Including the two VLCCs signed this time, the Tianjin base currently holds orders for 20 ships of various types, and the delivery schedule has been scheduled until 2027. The service customers include MSC and CMA CGM.

As a well-known VLCC construction shipyard in China, Dalian Shipbuilding has built and delivered more than 100 VLCCs for domestic and foreign shipowners in history, and the number of deliveries ranks first in China. This signing means that Dalian Shipbuilding has taken the lead in breaking the global VLCC order shortage in recent years and returning to the field of VLCC construction. In April this year, the two parties have already signed 10 115,000-ton product oil tankers, and the joint cooperation in the VLCC project this time is also a strong testimony of the long-term mutual trust and cooperation between the two parties.
